The Young and the Restless viewers know that Ashley Abbott is a competent woman who is nobody’s fool. Despite that, she’s not had the best luck in love. While it seemed she had her emotions under control when it came to Tucker, it looks like he’s wearing down her defenses. For her performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Ashley’s portrayer, Eileen Davidson.

Eileen Davidson: Y&R Performer of the Week

Davidson really played a wide range of Ashley’s emotions this week as the character dealt with her animosity toward Diane (Susan Walters), her anger at Jack (Peter Bergman), and her growing closeness with Tucker (Trevor St. John).

The scene where Diane joyfully told Ashley she wasn’t going to prison was truly fun to watch. Davidson had her on-screen alter ego so confidently tell Diane she was wrong, and much like Diane, given Davidson’s smug expressions and tone of voice, we simply cannot wait to see her have to eat crow when Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) turns up alive, and Diane doesn’t go to prison.

Again, when things got fiery between Jack and Ashley, Davidson let her character’s hurt shine through. These two have a long history of not being nice to each other, and they carry some deep resentments. Davidson does an excellent job showing those through the look on Ashley’s face as she and Jack argue back and forth.

Perhaps the most exciting scene was with Ashley and Tucker watching Dominic’s music class videos. Eileen Davidson showed off Ashley’s lighter, flirty side. She used some sideways glances and some flirty body language and light touches to show that Tucker finally seems to be wearing down Ashley’s walls. Interestingly, we still see the strong, wary Ashley underneath because of the way Davidson plays it by moving forward toward him and pulling back when things start to get a bit too intense.

Bravo on a week of outstanding performances! We truly can’t wait to see what comes next.
