History came dangerously close to repeating itself last week when Faith, played by Alyvia Alyn Lind, got into a horrific driving accident involving alcohol just as her late sister Cassie had done many years ago.
Alyvia Alyn Lind — Performer of the Week
Unlike Cassie (Camryn Grimes), who went to that great soap in the sky, there was, mercifully, a different outcome this time. For her powerful performance as a teen dealing with remorse, pain, and guilt, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week honors on Faith’s portrayer, Alyvia Alyn Lind.
Her parents, Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case), wanted Faith to rest, but it was important to her to fess up to her parents and apologize. Faith heartbreakingly recounted to her parents that she grabbed the keys to a Newman vehicle and some booze and got herself into this predicament after discovering that her “friend” Jordan (Madison Thompson) was behind the “secret admirer” texts.
By the way, Jordan has to be the meanest, not to mention most foolish, girl in soaps — catfishing a Newman? Not smart. (We advise Jordan stay clear of the Grand Phoenix until the next century!)
Faith asked for her parents’ forgiveness, which of course, they immediately gave along with their love. An emotional Faith assured her parents that they didn’t fail her. It’s tough being a teen — you want to spread your wings and start experiencing life, but, as Faith found out, teens aren’t always emotionally prepared to handle what life has to offer.
In heartfelt scenes with her grandmother Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Faith realized that it’s just not her parents to whom she needs to make things right. Faith was also heartened to see her grandfather Victor (Eric Braeden) walk in, holding a chess set, which brightened Faith’s mood. She said she wasn’t going to give him much of a game, but the symbolic gesture reminded Faith that she’s loved deeply by her family.
YR fans will, alas, be treated to performances by Lind as Faith for only a short while longer. The show has announced that actress Reylynn Caster will be stepping into the role of Faith on Monday, April 12.
We look forward to seeing what Caster does with the role and while Lind will be gone from YR, her performances will never be forgotten. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
