On the Young and the Restless, never mistake kindness for weakness. That’s pretty much the mistake people make with Detective Rey Rosales in Genoa City. The handsome newlywed has been patient about Sharon and her feelings for her ex, Adam, who keeps finding reasons to reach out to her. But after finding a photo of the two kissing, Rey had had enough!

For his passionate performances as a man pushed to the limit and beyond, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week honors on Jordi Vilasuso.

Jordi Vilasuso Shines As Rey Rosales

The Daytime Emmy-winner (for his role as Tony Santos on the gone-but-never-forgotten Guiding Light) always remembers that his character is a detective. Therefore, even though this “case” strikes close to home,” Rey maintained as cool a demeanor as possible when he first presented to Sharon (Sharon Case) evidence that she’d been unfaithful by kissing Adam (Mark Grossman).

Sharon tried to explain it away by saying that Adam kissed her her when he was feeling emotional. Rey demanded to know why Adam felt it was okay for him to do that and if he forced the kiss on Sharon or if she gave permission. When Sharon described it as an irrational mistake (presumably on her part, at least, partially), a frustrated Rey stormed out!

Next, it wasn’t one of Genoa City’s finest who showed up on Adam’s door, but rather a furious husband, demanding to know what was going on between Adam and his wife! Rey managed not to hold the phone featuring the photo of Adam and Sharon so that stroke-victim Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), who was in the room, could see it, but Rey’s rage clearly clued Chelsea into the fact that something is going on!

Later, Rey found solace at Society where he was joined by Nick (Joshua Morrow). While he and Nick get along great, he was none too pleased that another of Sharon’s ex-husbands is in the picture. Nick did his best to remind Rey that he is in his corner, which Rey did acknowledge.

After spending a night at the station, Rey came home to clear the air. But his anger flared back up after finding out that Adam had come to his and Sharon’s home while he was away. He calmed down long enough to deliver some powerful truths to his wife, telling Sharon that she cannot let go of Adam because she doesn’t want to. “Whenever Adam’s around, you lose all sense of reason,” Rey reasoned. As the week ended, Rey was resigned to the fact that much work needs to be done if his and Sharon’s marriage is going to survive.

Time will tell if Sharon and Rey can work this out, but one thing’s for sure — viewers are always guaranteed a powerful performance from Vilasuso as this story unfolds! The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listing for air times
