On The Young and the Restless, Phyllis Summers recently told Jack Abbott that she doesn’t feel at home in Genoa City these days. In fact, she said if it weren’t for Summer Newman Abbott, she wouldn’t even stay in town at all, which seemed surprising. Is Phyllis really leaving Y&R?

Young and the Restless Without Phyllis?

Jack (Peter Bergman) felt like Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) was manipulating him by saying she didn’t feel it in Genoa City anymore. However, she really seemed like she was being open and honest, but he just wasn’t in a place to hear it. Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) returning to Genoa City has really thrown Phyllis for a loop.

Even before Diane’s unexpected return from the dead, Phyllis wasn’t really living her best life. After her breakup with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), it would’ve made sense for Phyllis to leave. Sure, she had The Grand Phoenix, but she could’ve either sold it or paid somebody to run it for her. Then, she could’ve taken Summer up on her offer to work at Marchetti.

However, since Summer (Allison Lanier) has moved back home, it doesn’t make much sense for Phyllis to leave now. We know she could go live closer to her son, but her life is in Genoa City. She has her successful hotel, and even if she chooses to sell it to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), it served its purpose — proving to everybody that she can be successful on her own.

Phyllis has been through a lot through the years in Genoa City, and it’s understandable that she feels like things are stale, especially when things didn’t work out (again) with Jack. However, leaving at this moment doesn’t quite seem like the logical move for her. What do you think about Phyllis’s restlessness? What could she do to help fix it? Let us know in the comments below.
