When The Young and the Restless viewers first met Imani Benedict, she appeared to be nothing more than a shallow, spoiled socialite, eager to keep Grandfather happy so that she doesn’t get her trust fund cut off.

The Young and the Restless: Time For Imani to Shine

Then, Imani (Leigh-Ann Rose) stepped up to defend her mother. She did it by being mean to Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan), but, hey, she expressed an interest in someone other than herself. She also made eyes at Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), even when she knew he was with Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy).

But then Imani dropped the obnoxious flirting with Nate. She also revealed that, hey, did you know she was a lawyer, too? Just like her big sister! They should go into practice together! Great idea, Sis!

Until Amanda got a better offer from Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). But, hey, she totes wants Imani to pop over and do corporate work with her. Amanda won’t listen to a word Imani says, but she’ll be getting a salary. What else does she want?

The Young and the Restless: Nothing Doing

So now Imani has no voice in her new position — even though she definitely had valid points to make while Lily and Billy were talking to Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) about a merger — and no man. What, exactly, is keeping her in Genoa City?

Y&R: Future Tense

Imani is presumably intelligent, and she is gorgeous. She could have a wonderful personal and professional life in her adopted hometown. She could work for Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). She could go through Jabot’s legal briefs. And Nate is hardly the only game in town!

There is the newly single Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow). Or his son, Noah Newman (Rory Gibson). Either one could keep Imani busy. And she could certainly make both men more interesting.
