Mariah is finally home on The Young and the Restless. After getting help following her breakdown, she’s now ready for a fresh start and continuing her healing process. Mariah knows she hurt many people with her actions, and she’s ready to atone for her mistakes.

Key Takeaways

  • Mariah’s mental breakdown started last year.
  • Mariah faced the prospect of prison after kidnapping Dominic.
  • Her plea deal allowed her to seek help from a mental health facility.
  • Now that she’s returned, Mariah is focusing on atoning for her mistakes.

Mariah’s Needs To Earn Forgiveness

Mariah (Camryn Grimes) made her long-awaited return on the August 3 episode. Miss Copeland surprised her mom, Sharon (Sharon Case), at Crimson Lights, where they shared an emotional reunion.

The past year has been tough for Mariah, who suffered a breakdown because of her past trauma with Ian (Ray Wise). Mariah’s trauma caused her to push Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) away, then kidnap Dominic (Ethan Ray Clark). Things looked gloomy for Mariah, but a plea deal offered her the chance to finally get the help she needed.

Mariah’s release has given her a shot at a second chance and at returning to her old life. But there’s one thing she’s more focused on: atoning for her mistakes.

Mariah seems to be on the right path, now that she’s been forgiven by Tessa and Aria (Maddie and Millie Ingle). Before going away, Mariah and Tessa were making strides in repairing their marriage. When Mariah was released, Tessa welcomed her back with open arms, and so did Aria, even though she was a bit distant at first.

Tessa forgiving Mariah was a huge step in Mariah’s healing journey. Although Tessa was hurt by Mariah, she also understands her wife was dealing with trauma. Tessa’s commitment made it easy for Mariah to finally face her problems and work towards becoming a better person for her family.

Mariah’s Redemption Journey Won’t Be Easy

Mariah’s family was able to forgive her. However, it won’t be easy for other people. Devon (Bryton James) and Abby (Melissa Ordway) were victims of Mariah when she kidnapped their son.

They understood Mariah needed help for her problems, but the couple disagreed with her punishment. Devon’s anger at Mariah has impacted his marriage to Abby. Although Devon promised to try to let go of his anger, Mariah’s return could have him back to his old self.

Mariah knows Devon and Abby won’t forgive her so easily, but she still wants to make amends. While Abby might be willing to forgive and move on, Devon’s a different story.

With Devon still holding a grudge, it could impact Mariah’s progress. She might second-guess herself, wondering if she’s a bad person, and if she’s truly changed.

Do you think Mariah will change for the better? And does she deserve forgiveness?
