It’s been a while since The Young and the Restless had a cute, young couple for fans to go ga-ga over. Faith Newman and Moses Winters exchanged Valentine’s Day gifts, then took off for college. We have no idea where Mattie Ashby and Reed Hellstrom stand. And before that…was it Summer and Kyle? The Glow By Jabot house? Yeah, like we said, it’s been a while. But could the drought be coming to an end with the potential pairing of Johnny Abbott and Lucy Romalatti?
The Young and the Restless: Romeo and Juliet
While Kyle (Michael Mealor) was an Abbott and Summer (Allison Lanier) a Newman, Johnny (Paxton Mishkind) and Lucy won’t face such obstacles. Johnny is an Abbott and a Newman (yes, we consider Victoria [Amelia Heinle] his mother, not Chelsea [Melissa Claire Eagan]), and Lucy’s dad, Daniel, hasn’t really done much to upset either of them.
Sure, Lucy’s grandmother is Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). And Phyllis and Johnny’s dad, Billy (Jason Thompson), definitely have a history. Except Phyllis is presumed dead, Billy hardly ever mentions her, and Lucy doesn’t seem to be a fan in general. Meanwhile, the mom who raised Lucy, Heather, is related to Paul (Doug Davidson), a generally well enough liked – if rarely seen – guy. So no family drama for this young couple.
Fly in the Y&R Ointment
Unless you count Johnny’s brother/cousin Connor (Judah Mackey). He sure didn’t seem happy to watch Johnny and Lucy hit it off. Whether that’s because Connor is developing a little crush on Lucy himself, or because he doesn’t like the idea of Johnny’s attention being taken off him — this is just like Connor’s dad daring to have another baby! — we can imagine Chelsea’s son going full Chelsea on anyone he thinks isn’t giving him the adoration he rightly deserves! Watch out, Lunny!
