Claire And Kyle’s Split Impacts Harrison
Halloween is a major holiday, particularly for children. When Claire (Hayley Erin) showed Victoria (Amelia Heinle) the picture of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Harrison (Redding Munsell) dressed up as two of the three Little Pigs, she expressed that she was gutted.
Had she and Kyle not fallen out over his seductive scheme to manipulate Audra (Zuleyka Silver), Claire would have been in the picture, too. She’d have been in her costume, rounding out the idea she’d come up with and enjoying spooky season as the family unit they’d become. But instead, she’s in LA finding herself.
That’s left Kyle to make excuses whenever Harrison asks when Claire is coming home. Kyle shared with Jack (Peter Bergman) that he’s even resorted to changing the subject to avoid giving his son a direct answer. But that hasn’t stopped Harrison from noticing something is off between him and Claire. He insisted they take a picture of themselves in their costumes so Kyle could send it to her. And then asked if she’d seen it up until he went to bed.
Though Claire doesn’t know how Harrison spent his night, she’s aware that the rift between her and Kyle has and will continue to deeply affect the young boy she’s come to love. She confessed to her mother that she feels like she’s letting him down. So much changed in such a small window of time, and she’s carrying guilt over Harrison being caught in the middle.
However, Victoria questioned whether Claire’s feelings actually have to do with Kyle, rather than Harrison. It’s a fair observation given Claire’s mixed emotions regarding her time in LA and where things stand with her ex.
Jack Urges Kyle to Give Claire the Space She Needs
Claire told Victoria that she wonders if this whole excursion in California is just her running from commitment. Though she didn’t elaborate on that point, she does have a ready-made family with Kyle. They were happy prior to the situation with Audra. They were making plans for the future, and it seemed as though they had everything lined up.
However, Jack had a good point when he spoke to his son. He reminded Kyle that before she was reunited with her parents and fell in love with him, Claire hadn’t known love the way she knows it now. Then Cole (J. Eddie Peck) died after they had barely any time together. She’s grieving, and she’s lost. The way forward may not look like a reunion with Kyle, so all he can do is wait. Kyle put his cards on the table. Claire knows he wants a second chance. It’s up to her to decide if that’s what she wants, too.
If she is actually running away from him, it could be because it’s too much, too fast. A lot has happened in Claire’s life. She may need to pump the brakes and move at a slower pace. But if her guilt is about Harrison, or even that she’s moving on from what she thought she wanted, then Kyle and Claire could find themselves going their separate ways for good.
