The Young and the Restless Stars
In a case of CBS Daytime synergy, The Talk invited three fan favorite stars from The Young and the Restless on the show to celebrate the soap’s 30-year run as daytime’s number one serial!
Jess Walton (Jill), Joshua Morrow (Nicholas), and Sharon Case (Sharon) visited The Talk in honor of this tremendous occasion!
“It was amazing,” said Jess Walton about the show going to number one, noting Y&R’s history of climaxing several stories in which fallouts would affect the entire canvas.
Case revealed how she competed against five other actresses to win the role of Sharon Collins! “Joshua had started working there a few months before me,” she recalled.
“That day, I got paid to make out with five very attractive women,” joked Morrow of the screen tests, adding, “Sharon nailed it” and that the powers-that-be at the time concurred with a “we know.”
“You’re either for ‘Shick’ or ‘Phick,'” Case says about the current fan bases that are divided between wanting Nick to be with Sharon or Phyllis (Gina Tognoni).
“It’s fun that the audience is so involved and so split,” noted Case. “It makes it fun.”
On the legendary fight scenes with the late, great Jeanne Cooper (Katherine), Walton recalled one knockdown in particular.
“I said, ‘Jeanne I have this fall that clips on to the back of my hair. Whatever you do, don’t pull on it. She spent the entire time ripping at my hair! It was fun. She was always fun!”
“Nobody did fights like them,” Morrow said.
On working with Eric Braeden (Victor), Morrow said that his TV dad is an icon. “[That word] is thrown around a lot, but he’s truly something special. He is an absolute goofball in between our takes. He kills us. When he starts giggling, the whole set does.”
