The Young and the Restless (YR) and The Bold and The Beautiful (BB) have called CBS Television City in Hollywood their home since their first days of production, but now that may all change.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the network is considering selling the studios located in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, but noted that nothing was imminent in terms of a sale.
According to the Times, the sale of the 25-acre lot could go between $500 million to $750 million. Even Victor Newman would raise an eyebrow at those figures!
The facility, which has been around since 1952, is steeped in television history as it’s been the home to such legendary programming as “The Jack Benny Show,” “The Carol Burnett Show,” “The Price Is Right,” “Dancing With the Stars” and such great performers as Red Skelton and Judy Garland.
CBS TV City has many fans including Y&R’s current executive producer/head writer, Mal Young, who recently posted a bit of history from the facility on Twitter.
If indeed a sale were to occur, then Y&R and B&B might join “The Talk” at the CBS Studio Center lot (where a lot of CBS execs and employees moved to years ago) or perhaps Y&R would relocate to the Sony lot in Culver City.
Y&R airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
