Life has not been kind to Rey Rosales, a fact to which fans of The Young and the Restless can attest. And still, he works hard to be there for others, putting their needs above his own and risking his life to rid the world of evildoers.

Who Is Rey Rosales?

As the firstborn of Adrian and Celeste Rosales, Rey faced the daunting task of being not only a big brother to siblings Arturo and Lola but also a father figure after theirs abandoned the family.

Upon graduating high school, he joined the Miami police fore and eventually ascended the ranks to detective. But while his professional life was a success, his personal one was in shambles. His wife, Mia, had an affair with her brother-in-law, which ignited a feud between Rey and Arturo and led to an estrangement between the spouses.

Too Close For Comfort
When the opportunity arose to go undercover and investigate the disappearance of Genoa Cityite JT Hellstrom, Rey jumped at it. He quickly became suspicious of Sharon, Nikki, and Phyllis and did his utmost to ingratiate himself into the women’s lives – he even became the former’s lodger and confidant.

And the two would have probably grown even closer, but the budding romance was halted by the revelation of his true identity and purpose. Luckily, they were able to reconcile after Rey got Sharon a job at the GCPD and issued a number of sincere apologies.

Trouble Compounded
Soon after, the pair were again separated when Mia arrived in town and insisted to Rey that she wanted to give their marriage another shot. Later, Rey was forced to arrest Sharon and her fellow co-conspirators when the truth about JT’s supposed death came to light.

When the man in question turned out to be alive and suffering from a psychosis-inducing brain tumor, the women were off the hook, but Rey lost his job because of his handling of the case.

Meanwhile, Mia succumbed to her lingering feelings for Arturo and slept with him again – which resulted in quite the paternity pickle when she learned that she was with child.

Rey insisted on a DNA test and when the results proved that he was going to be an uncle rather than a father, he punched Arturo. Hurt, he also seriously considered turning Mia over to the authorities when he learned she had been responsible for attacking Lola whom she believed to be Abby Newman. Instead, he settled on saying goodbye to the adulterous pair.

Rey Rosales – The Struggle Continues

With every conceivable obstacle cleared away, Rey and Sharon reunited and moved in together but were eventually torn apart by the shocking return of her ex-lover Adam Newman, who did his best to win Sharon back.

Luckily, Sharon wised up, promised Rey that she was through putting Adam and his wants above hers. They were able to take tentative steps towards a reconciliation – which was certainly in order as the two were about to face a number of trials and tribulations that would necessitate comfort and support.

First, Rey had to deal with his scam-running father, then he was duped into believing that Victor Newman was dead and found himself duty-bound to arrest Victoria for murdering him. Afterward, Sharon learned that she was suffering from Stage 2 breast cancer. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
