5. The Early Years: Egan was born on September 28, 1981 in Pound Ridge, New York. She’s the middle child of Mary and Dennis Egan and has two brothers, Ryan and Scott.

4. An 4. 4.Educated Woman: After growing up in New York, Egan decided to travel far for college and attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The actress graduated with a BA in Dramatic Arts.

3. A Gorgeous Bride: She may not have the perfect marriage on-screen, but her real life romance certainly makes up for it. Egan married the love of her life, Matt Katrosar, in July of 2014.

2. Y&R Isn’t Her First Soap: Before becoming Genoa City bad-girl-turned-heroine Chelsea Lawson, Egan played Annie Lavery on the daytime drama All My Children. She played this role from 2006 until the show’s final days in 2011.

1. She’s a Five-Time Emmy Nominee: Melissa has five nominations under her belt for her roles on All My Children and The Young and the Restless, but so far no wins. However, her biggest accomplishment is winning the hearts of Y&R fans.
