[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Young and the Restless (Y&R) star Camryn Grimes (Mariah) turned 25 on January 7. The Emmy-winning actress had a lot to celebrate, including a career that has spanned most of the young woman’s life. To celebrate, Soap Shows takes you on a trip back in time through her life on Y&R.
Grimes landed the sought after role of Cassie Newman in 1997. At the tender age of seven, Grimes stole fans’ hearts as the Sharon’s biological daughter and Nick’s adopted daughter. The role put Grimes on the map and helped her become the youngest actress to ever win a Daytime Emmy.
When Cassie was killed in 2010, it devastated the Y&R audience. Fans cried along with Nick and Sharon as they held their teenage daughter for the last time. Not only did viewers lose a much-loved character, but they also lost a child they watched grow up before their eyes.
Grimes made an epic return to daytime when she took on the part of Cassie’s twin Mariah. It took some time for the audience to fall in love with this wayward, sneaky, and sometimes messy character, but they were glad to have Grimes back on set.
Since her return to Y&R, she’s become one of the most popular actresses on the show once again. Fans are delighted to have her back and look forward to many more years with Grimes taking center stage as Mariah, Cassie’s twin.
In between her stints on Y&R, Grimes appeared in Swordfish, ER, Cold Case, Magic Mike, and The Mentalist.
