[dropcap]B[/dropcap]urgess Jenkins has stepped up to the plate on The Young and the Restless in his role as Billy. While some fans love him, others aren’t quite used to him yet, but they’re getting there. Here are 10things you may not know about this amazing actor.
10. Where He Came From
Hailing from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Jenkins is a man from a small city with big dreams. With a current population of 230,000 people, it can be difficult to make it as a TV star in Winston-Salem.
9. He’s a Family Man
His life with wife Ashley Payne has been nothing short of a fairy tale. He and his spouse have a little girl named Harper and relish their life together. He’s a devoted father and husband and tries to make it to church often.
8. He’s Been in 16 Movies
Since 2000, Jenkins has been busy on the silver screen. From playing David Winter in The Reaping to his newest 2014 role in Hero, he’s known all over the world. His acting skills show no bounds and have garnered him huge professional success.
7. Jenkins’ Other TV Credits
With huge roles on One Tree Hill as Bobby Irons and a recurring role on the hit Lifetime show Army Wives as Kurt, he’s recognized as more than just a soap star.
6. He studied Psychology and Uses It
While attending graduate school, Jenkins earned his Master’s Degree in Psychology, which he says has helped immensely with his acting.

5. He Attended Playhouse West
Method acting quickly became his first love when he attended the famous Los Angeles school. Studying under Bob Carnegie and Jeff Goldblum, he blossomed as an actor and found some very early success.
4. His Breakout Role
Many fans don’t remember, but he played the headline role of Ray Budds in the movie Remember the Titans. Acting opposite Denzel Washington couldn’t have been an easy task, but an actor is practically guaranteed that the film will turn to box office gold.
3. Award Nominations
In 2009, that Jenkins took on the role Bruce in the intense thriller In/Significant Others. This creepy part garnered him much critical acclaim and led to a nomination for Best Actor at the Boston Film Festival. Although he didn’t win, the nomination made him push harder to become an even better actor.
2. He’s Involved In Children Charities
Wanting to give back to the world, Jenkins organizes and runs a children’s charity he set up under his grandfather’s name. The Children’s Cancer Patient Support charity is used to help little ones and their families as they struggle with this scary disease.

Jenkins found himself trying to fill some huge shoes when taking on the role of Billy after David Tom and Billy Miller. It may have taken time for fans to get used to the new Billy, but he’s sure showing his worth.
