Mariah is going through a difficult time on The Young and the Restless. Between her marriage crumbling, her mental health, and facing prison time, things aren’t looking good. While Mariah fans fear the worst for their girl, Camryn Grimes hints that there’s hope for the character.

Key Takeaways

  • Mariah continues to be haunted by her past with Ian Ward.
  • Her past trauma led her to kidnap Dominic.
  • Sharon is trying to help Mariah, who’s facing prison.

Healing Her Wounds

Mariah’s string of trouble began last year during a business trip. While at a hotel bar, Mariah met a mystery man (Michael Swan), who reminded her of Ian Ward (Ray Wise). The encounter triggered Mariah, who later tried to smother the man in his hotel room.

Since then, Mariah’s been on a downward spiral that began with her and Tessa’s (Cait Fairbanks) separation. Although Mariah sought help for mental health issues, she didn’t get better. Her latest stunt involved kidnapping Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Devon’s (Bryton James) son, Dominic (Ethan Ray Clark).

Luckily, no harm was done to Dominic, and Mariah was arrested for her crime. While everyone seems to be giving up on Mariah, Sharon (Sharon Case) is staying by her daughter’s side. Sharon believes that Mariah can get better with the right help, but is it too late for her?

“There are deep, deep wounds,” Grimes tells Soap Opera Digest about Mariah’s trauma. Most of Mariah’s trauma stems from her upbringing with Ian, something she never “healed” from.

While Grimes believes there’s hope for Mariah, it will take a lot of work on her part. “If she’s going to have any real healing, she’s going to have to get to the root of, honestly, her opinion of herself and who she really, really is.”

Hope For Mariah?

Things still are looking gloomy for Mariah, who’s ready to move on from Tessa and plead guilty. Although Mariah is insistent that this is the right thing, she might change her mind.

Daniel (Michael Graziadei) has encouraged Tessa to work things out with Mariah. Following Daniel’s advice, Tessa met with her wife and tried to convince her to take a plea deal for their family’s sake. Although Mariah continued pushing Tessa away, it seems she might be having a change of heart.

Deep down, Mariah still loves Tessa and Aria (Maddie and Millie Ingle). All this time, she thought she wasn’t worthy of them, but now she’s seeing how much her family loves and needs her.

Could Tessa’s support get Mariah to take the plea deal? Will Mariah finally get the proper help and reunite with Tessa? These are a few questions that still need to be answered in Mariah’s story.
