Mariah was surprised by Tessa’s return this past week on The Young and the Restless. It looked like she might not be coming back but now that she has, viewers are likely going to weigh in on what this means for Mariah!
Some fans love the pairing of Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks). Others? Not as much. How do the actresses respond to online feedback about them?
The pair told TV Insider how they react has actually evolved over time.
“Most of the comments I see are pretty positive,” Fairbanks told the website. “Every so often we’ll see something [negative]. I try to call them out. Either way, I feel that people know not to mess with us about it.
“I want to clap back, but I don’t want to give that person attention. They have zero followers and [if I respond] they’ll get thousands of views.”
Grimes concurs the best battle plan is to say nothing. Plus, the Emmy-winner says she doesn’t have to do much. There’s a legion of supporters on social media that handle all of that for them.
“Honestly, they do a lot of the clap backs for us so we don’t have to,” says Grimes. “Every now and then [I’ll respond]. I’ve gotten over clapping back to everything because I realize it’s just not the important conversation.
“The important conversation is something we’re already doing. We’re continuing this story. It’s happening and those people who don’t agree, I’m sorry, but they’re just going to kind of go away eventually. It’s an old mentality that I think will die out.”
So, it looks like the naysayers aren’t going to squash the enthusiasm the actresses and their fans have for this storyline. What brought Tessa back to town? Tune in to Y&R to find out!
