After three years of playing Dylan McAvoy, veteran soap opera star Steve Burton released a statement on social media he will be leaving The Young and the Restless. The news came as a shock to longtime fans, prompting speculation about the actor’s reasons, his intended plans, and the effect his departure may have on the daytime drama.
Of course, this isn’t the first big change that we’ve seen from Burton: He spent more than two decades as Jason Morgan on General Hospital, leaving the iconic role when his character was presumed dead. His Genoa City debut occurred not long after, during which he originated the character of Dylan McAvoy.
In the wake of this latest shift, rumors are running wild that Burton may be returning to General Hospital’s Port Charles, possibly after his Y&R character’s baby-switching storyline concludes. While this is only speculation, stranger things have certainly happened in the soap world… and you can count on SoapHub.com to bring you all of the latest updates as this story evolves.
Y&R airs weekdays on CBS. Share your thoughts, leave a comment in the section below. Win exclusive member-only The Young and the Restless prizes, and more: sign up here.
