It’s been a fun run for Justin Hartley on The Young and the Restless, but the soap star is leaving the show. After two short years in Genoa City, Hartley is moving on to other projects. He shared a heartfelt message with fans on social media, and he said it best:

After weeks of will he/won’t he speculation Hartley (Adam) has finally come out with the devastating truth about his Y&R status.

Does This Mean Adam Is Dead?
The last time we saw Adam, he was trapped in the cabin when it went up in a ball of fire. It left many fans wondering if he had somehow escaped, or if this was the final curtain call for Adam Newman in GC.

Rumors have run rampant Adam didn’t perish in the fire, but was forced out of the country by Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) sans his wife and son. Even after DNA results confirmed Adam died, viewers were still hoping for a miracle.

However, with Hartley’s social media post, it is the end of the talented star’s run as Adam. Fortunately in soaps, anything can happen. So, while he no longer portrays the Newman son, will someone else step in and take over the role of Adam and make another return to GC?
