Adam’s long con on The Young and the Restless may come with some steep consequences. The Newman is slipping back into his past life as “Spider” to get his old boss, Riza, on his side. But his ploy to get closer to her to see if Matt Clark has hired her has come with a side of spice he wasn’t prepared for. While he, Nick, Chelsea, Sharon, and Noah are bent on taking Matt down, putting his love life in jeopardy wasn’t on the table. But it may be the only way they can get the information they need.
Key Takeaways
- Adam’s past with Riza.
- The holes in the story Riza refuses to fill.
- Why Adam’s choices could put Chelsea on edge.
Is Riza a Past Flame?
Back when Adam (Mark Grossman, who talks about exploring Adam’s edgy side) was in Sin City, he and Riza (Tina Casciani) ran scams together. Their high-risk “business” venture tied them in ways that speak to the devil-may-care side of Adam’s personality. The rush of getting one over on someone can be intoxicating. It can also create a spark between two people who are used to conning others.
Adam has said his memories of his past with Riza are hazy about whether they were ever together. The admission amused her in Tuesday, March 24’s episode because it put her at an advantage. He knows they were partners-in-crime, but as for whether they shared more than that, she reveled in teasing him. By the sultry looks she gave him, Adam thought they didn’t keep things strictly business. He seemed to get confirmation when she kissed him, and he kissed her back.
Their chemistry will certainly work in his favor as he attempts to coax information out of Riza. But his cluelessness will work to her advantage. He’d been an amnesiac when they worked together, and the holes from their shared experience have put him right where she wants him. With Riza possibly playing him the way Adam is playing her, she may be able to push him to do something he can’t take back.
Adam Could Go Too Far To Stop Matt Clark
Back in Genoa City, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) waited for Adam to check in with her. They were supposed to remain in communication while he was in Vegas. Like Sharon (Sharon Case), she was worried. Adam and Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) mission to track down Matt (Roger Howarth) is dangerous. They want to be kept abreast of how the plan is going, but this new development with Riza could throw a wrench into the situation.
Given Adam’s reaction to Riza’s kiss, he may not be above using their supposed romantic past to get the information he needs. Doing so, though, especially if he keeps Chelsea in the dark about it, could have wide-reaching consequences when he gets back home. He had shared with Riza that he’s in a relationship and has a son now, but that didn’t deter her.
It’s not surprising that the Queen is interested in pushing the envelope to see where Adam’s weak spots are. Spider, the man she was involved with, wasn’t an upstanding family man. He lived on the wild side as she does, and that’s the person she’s going to try to bring out of hiding.
While it’s doubtful Adam will lose himself entirely in the con he’s running, he could slip just enough to ruin what he has with Chelsea. Doing whatever it takes to stop Matt doesn’t mean she’ll be okay with him growing intimately closer to Riza.
