The Young and the Restless is one of the few places where doing the same thing over and over again in the same way and expecting things to turn out differently is not considered a sign of insanity.
See Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott). Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Billy (Jason Thompson). Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Summer (Hunter King). So should Nate (Sean Dominic) and Elena (Brytni Sarpy) join that list of crazy? What almost 6,000 voters had to say:
A little less than half of you, 45%, are saying sure, go for it. Enough time has passed now that Nate should have forgotten Elena cheated on Devon (Bryton James) with him, then cheated on him with Devon. Nate can dive right back into this dysfunctional relationship, then look all confused again when it goes down the tube for we’ve lost count of which time.
An almost equal 40% of the audience cannot believe Nate would be so stupid. Absolutely nothing has changed about either one of them. Nate is still Nate and Elena is still Elena, and they both obviously only want something when they can’t have it and, ultimately, neither one knows what they want. Or what it takes to get it.
A last place 15% of the fans don’t see the appeal, but figure if Nate and Elena want to work at it, then sure, go ahead, knock yourselves out. They can go back through all the issues that have broken them up before and insulate themselves against it ever happening again.
If two people want to beat their heads bloody against a wall, who are we to stop them? We’re just not sure if that would be entertaining for us to watch. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
