The Young and the Restless

A Critic’s Review of The Young and the Restless: Where’s The Twist?

When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: A Critic’s Week In Review

It’s a little too obvious that Tara Locke’s (Elizabeth Leiner) comeuppance is nigh, but will it come courtesy of meddling Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), or her mark, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor)? And what of little Harrison (Kellen Enriquez)? Is he actually Kyle’s biological son? Or is that just one of the many lies that Tara’s fed him?

It’s a little too obvious that Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) whole world is about to crash down around her, but what does the future hold? Will she manage to redeem herself? Will she even try? Or might she double down and REALLY go for Phyllis’s jugular by targeting everything she holds dear…including poor, easily led Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow)?

It’s a little too obvious that Shadam is the endgame for The Young and the Restless, but what will transpire before Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) actually get together? Many in the soap sphere have suggested that he’s in for a workplace romance – or, at the very least, a bout of hate sex – with Chloe Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson), and such a storyline would certainly set the canvas ablaze…so don’t count on it happening.

It’s a little too obvious that Ben “Stitch” Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) is Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) abductor – especially in light of his fibbing about the job at Memorial Hospital; you know, the one that was accepted by Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) – but the jury’s still out on who the real culprit could be.

And finally, it’s a bit too obvious that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) is setting herself up for a world of hurt, but exactly what will precipitate that hurt remains to be seen. Either Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) is indeed terminally ill and will die sooner, rather than later, or he’s playing a long and very cruel game with her in order to get his hands on Newman Enterprises.

Further Y&R Musings

* Boy, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) aren’t playing anymore. In the span of one episode, they went from “leveling up” in their relationship by discussing the possibility of him making her a key to his place, to confessing their mutual love for one another.

* Correct us if we’re wrong, but didn’t Phyllis give Sally her walking papers weeks ago? What is she still doing living at The Grand Phoenix – other than plot contrivance, of course.

The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Genoa City, check out all the latest that’s been posted on Y&R spoilers.
