When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: A Critic’s Week In Review

We’ve got some serious questions, but Y&R doesn’t seem particularly interested in offering up any concrete answers. For weeks now, we’ve wondered what exactly is up with Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) and Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner). Sure, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that she’s bad, but what about him?

We were promised The Locke-ness Monster, and so far we’ve been handed a pretty decent guy. Yeah, he did make life hell for Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) for about five minutes, but since then he’s been used and abused by Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), come to a mutually beneficial custody arrangement with Kyle and Tara, learned he’s dying from lung cancer, and entered into a hot as hellfire non-romance with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle).

And speaking of Vic…we’re also desperate to find out exactly what her intentions for Ashland are. Does she actually like him the way she appears to, or is it all a ruse designed to lull him into a false sense of security so that she can take him for all that he’s worth? And, truth be told, we can also see the reverse happening. Wouldn’t that be the perfect way for Ashland to stick it to Victor on The Young and the Restless?

We’ve also gotta talk about Stitch (Sean Carrigan). Please, please, please tell us that this show hasn’t decided to turn this character into a baby-snatching psychopath. Please, please, please tell us that he’s actually on a mission to protect former missus Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) and her friends and family from his errant offspring. That would also explain his (still) uber creepy, lurker behavior.

Further Y&R Musings

* They say that it takes one to know one, so might it be nosy Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) who outs Tara’s scheme to the unassuming Kyle?

* Fare thee well Summer Newman (Hunter King)!

* Mishael Morgan continues to shine in her various scenes opposite Ptosha Storey (Naya Benedict) and Jack Landron (Sutton Ames), but her whole storyline is starting to wear pretty thin. Let’s hope that this storyline comes to a swift conclusion – whether satisfying or not.

* Though, on the face of it, it doesn’t seem like Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) mental health has improved, we have to say she’s actually come a long way; she no longer blames Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) for all her travails.
