Many gym-goers set up home gyms during the COVID pandemic. However, Don Diamont, who plays Bill Spencer on The Bold and the Beautiful, says he set out to set up a workout station in his residence before others did so. The actor chatted with Soap Hub for this week’s Wellness Wednesday about staying close to home.
Don Diamont — A Man’s Gym Is His Castle
Diamont had not one but two gym memberships a while back as they fit in with this lifestyle at the time. “My kids were younger,” he says. “I’d drop them off at school and go to [a nearby gym] on my way to work. I had a small home gym, too. I always felt like I needed to be at the gym.”
Change of Habit
Then, Diamont says, one day, the opposite happened, and this occurred well before COVID. He realized that he was devoting a good deal of time getting to the gym, which didn’t justify the time he spent at the gym. “I’d go there, park, go to my locker, put my stuff away,” he recalls. “Then, the opposite happened where I only wanted to work out at home.”
To that end, the actor reveals he expanded his home gym, adding additional weights and a punching bag. “There’s nothing I can’t do at my house,” he remarks. “That’s my preference. I’m disciplined enough to know I’ll work out at home.”
Don Diamont — Do What Works
Diamont champions individuals doing what works for them, whether that means going to a gym or setting up a home gym, as he has done. “I don’t care what it is,” he shrugs. “If someone needs a trainer or [prefers doing] yoga, it’s great if it’s making you do something for your mental and physical well-being. Do it and stick with it! I always say doing a little bit of something is better than doing nothing!”
Fortunately, the busy dad had his gym expanded when the pandemic hit. “Thank God, we did,” he notes. “All the boys — the athletes, the football players — were all home. It’s big enough where everyone can work out.”
