Actors who made up the Hope For The Future contingent from Forrester Creations weren’t the only cast members from The Bold and the Beautiful who recently went abroad. Sean Kanan and a few other B&B stars recently went to Monte Carlo to represent the show at the Golden Nymph Awards. The actor who plays Deacon Sharpe chatted with Soap Hub about his trip that combined business and pleasure.

Sean Kanan: Bonjour, Monte Carlo

“[My wife] Michele and I had an absolutely fantastic time,” Kana says of his visit to Monte Carlo for The Golden Nymph Awards, which are prizes given to winners of the Official Competition of the Monte Carlo Television Festival. Kimberlin Brown (Sheila), Patrick Duffy (Stephen), and Linda Purl (Lucy) also represented the show at the awards.

Kanan says he hopes that he didn’t do any harm in terms of international relations during his visit. “I want to apologize to the citizens of France for inflicting my 7th-grade French on them,” the actor says with a wry smile. “I hope it didn’t damage the relationship between our two nations.”

Kanan already has a great relationship with Brown from their time working together, which was only strengthened with this recent trip. “You really don’t know someone till you travel with them,” Kanan offers. “Kimberlin’s great. We spent a lot of our free time together — out to eat, by the pool. I adore Kimberlin, and I love working with her. We had a lot of fun.”

Along with attending the Golden Nymph Awards, which Kanan says were a lot of fun and very well-produced, he managed to check out some great eateries like the restaurant at the Hôtel Château de La Chèvre d’Or.

Deacon Sharpe, Bobby Ewing, and Man From Atlantis

Deacon and Stephen haven’t shared many scenes, but Kanan was familiar with Duffy as he’d guested on his sitcom Step By Step, which also starred Suzanne Somers (Three’s Company). “It was really nice to spend time with both Patrick and Linda,” Kanan raves. “They are the most lovely people. I grew up watching both Dallas and Man From Atlantis. I kept my ‘fan boy’ in check.” Kanan quips, “I did, however, look over at Patrick, and I can confirm his hands are not webbed.”

Kanan says he had time to unwind while abroad, but he also hit some red carpets and other events. He packed accordingly and brought with him multiple outfits, including a midnight blue tuxedo designed for him by Seth Hill. The actor says he also buys off-the-rack clothing but needs to have things taken in to fit his new physique. “It’s a very high-end problem to have,” the actor says. “I had multiple changes for different events. It was a nice excuse to get some new suits.”

There were many other stars at the Golden Nymph Awards, including John Goodman (The Connors) and also, Josh Duhamel (ex-Leo, All My Children) whom Kanan had met over 20 years ago. “We ran into each other and started talking like old friends even though we don’t know each other that well,” Kanan says. “Josh and his wife were on two of our flights, and we hung out in the lounge together.”

Sean Kanan: International Travel Trips

It’s important to have all your paperwork and/or identification with you whether you’re traveling domestically or internationally. To make sure everything goes smoothly, Kanan jokes, “My wife carries any important documents.” On a more serious note, he has advice about making international purchases. “Use your credit card that will give you the best conversion rate on the day that you’re there, and use a card that doesn’t have a foreign transaction fee.”

Kanan recommends bringing your own snacks on flights. You can not only make healthy choices in advance, but you can avoid paying higher costs at the airport by pre-planning. He also stays well-hydrated on flights — especially as he couldn’t afford to not be sharp, so to speak. “I landed around 10 p.m. on Wednesday night and had to be at the studio at 6 a.m. the next day,” he recalls. “I was up first with 17 pages in a row. I went in and knocked the scenes out, and then, I went home and slept for 14 hours!”
