If you’ve been wondering where Winsor Harmon has been since learning his role as Thorne was being recast with Ingo Rademacher on The Bold and the Beautiful, we can reveal that location — the actor’s still on the high road.
Harmon put out a classy statement wishing his successor the best when the news broke. Now, he’s given an interview in the November 27 issue of Soap Opera Digest, expanding on his thoughts over leaving the show.
And he’s still being the gentleman fans know and love him to be!
Shocking Soap Twist
Harmon does tell the magazine he was shocked by the news, especially since the show had invited him to the soap’s fan event in August. A month later, he says he was informed of the decision by B&B’s executive producer/head writer Bradley Bell.
Roses And “Thornes”
Harmon can relate to both being recast and coming in as a recast. When he was hired to play Thorne in 1996, another actor was in the role — Jeff Trachta. “I also understand what Ingo’s going through,” Harmon says.
As for why he took the high road, Harmon believes that the world is so divided right now and is full of anger in so many ways. “I spent 21 years on the No. 1 show in the world…and I have to be grateful for that,” Harmon says.
Cast Support
Harmon received calls of support from his now ex-cast mates, including Darin Brooks (Wyatt), Scott Clifton (Liam), Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke), and Thorsten Kaye (Ridge). He also received a supportive call and advice from Ronn Moss (ex-Ridge). “Everybody called,” Harmon says. “It was nice.”
What’s Next?
Harmon’s been on two different soaps, and he says he’s open to not only a third one, but other acting roles that comes his way.
“You name it,” he says. “I love to work.” The actor has not played a role on General Hospital, Days of Our Lives, or The Young and the Restless to date — so there are three avenues right there for him!
If Y&R actors can come on to B&B and play totally new roles, then why couldn’t Harmon go to Genoa City?
