Why Eric and Quinn Splitting Up Is Gold for Bold and the Beautiful

Happy marriages are great in real life however, content unions on soap operas don’t always make for the best drama. That’s why we’re thrilled about Eric and Quinn facing marital strife.

Divorce Makes Good Drama for The Bold and the Beautiful

Eric’s (John McCook) heart was broken upon finding out that Quinn (Rena Sofer) had been unfaithful with him when she hopped into bed with Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor). Quinn still wants to reconcile with Eric but what might happen if she realizes that that’s not a viable option?

One of B&B’s most successful stories was when Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), ironically, the woman who helped expose Quinn’s infidelity leveraged her ownership of the BeLieF patent against the Forresters to gain 51% control of Forrester Creations. Neither Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) nor Eric wanted Brooke as their wife but they were forced to deal with her as their (gulp!) boss!

Like Brooke, Quinn contributes to Forrester with her jewelry line. Even though Quinn Artisan Jewelry makes nowhere near the financial contributions to Forrester that BeLieF did, Quinn and Eric making a legal split could have huge implications on the House of Forrester.

If Quinn and Eric don’t have a pre-marital agreement, she could walk off with half of his interest in Forrester. That doesn’t mean as much as it used to give how the stock has been divided but Quinn is still in a position to leverage herself into Eric’s life through finances. Quinn could leverage any financial settlement by asking for a position at Forrester Creations?

Eric could balk at the idea of having to go to work every day only to see his ex but Eric’s children might convince their dad it’s the best financial avenue to take. Plus, a seemingly amicable split might be better for public relations. If Quinn remains firm in her desire to remain in Eric’s life, she’d jump at the chance to still have a role at Forrester. Of course, remaining at Forrester will mean that Quinn will continue to have interactions with Carter (if he sticks around as Forrester’s COO). How might Quinn be able to maneuver her way back into Eric’s life if the man who helped cause the split is someone she encounters on a daily basis?

The drama won’t just be going down at Forrester or in court. Quinn’s loved the fact that her portrait hangs in a place of honor over the Forrester fireplace. The women in Eric’s life are likely in a race to see which one of them can take it down! Will it be Pam (Alley Mills), the late Stephanie’s (Susan Flannery) sister, who has already battled over which painting should hang in Eric’s home? Or will it be one of Eric’s children? It’d be fitting to have either of Stephanie’s daughters Kristen (Tracy Melchoir) or Felicia (Lesli Kay) do the honors.

There’s always Brooke, too, who successfully got the family to swap out Quinn’s portrait for Stephanie’s during the holidays one year. She’d take great delight in watching Quinn’s picture come off the wall. Brooke might even offer to do it herself. There’s always the possibility that Eric himself will remove it. We have a feeling though that the painting is coming down one way or another!
