They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps but can you guess who this shaggy-haired youth grew up to be?
Star Of The Soaps
Obviously this young man (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.
So try these on for size. He is a soap hopper (with three serials under his belt) whom People Magazine once chose as one of their 50 Most Beautiful People in the World. He is also a published author.
But just who can he be? Is this a photograph of Don Diamont (Bill Spencer, BB), Patrick Muldoon (ex-Austin Reed, DAYS), Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos, GH), or Michael Corbett (ex-David Kimble, YR)?
Patrick Muldoon
Though he was named one of People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in the World, DAYS remains the only daytime soap that he has appeared in — even though it was two different stints. Also, appearing on Melrose Place as Richard doesn’t really count. So no, Muldoon isn’t today’s featured star.
Maurice Benard
Benard has technically appeared in four soaps – All My Children (where he played Nico Kelly), GH, Port Charles, and GH: Night Shift – though he played Sonny in the latter three. And he is a published author – Nothing General About It: How Love (And Lithium) Saved Me On And Off General Hospital. But he isn’t today’s mystery teen.
Michael Corbett
Before he took on the role of the diabolical David Kimble, Corbett had roles on Ryan’s Hope (ex-Michael Pavel Jr.) and Search for Tomorrow (as the equally deplorable Warren Carter).
He’s also the author of three best selling real estate tomes. But he was never spotlighted by People (despite his obvious good looks) so he isn’t the answer to today’s identity query.
Don Diamont
Diamont’s career began with a one-year role on DAYS where he played Carlo Forenza. Afterward, he spent 23 years at YR as pool boy turned corporate executive Brad Carlton.
In 1990, he became the first daytime actor to be named one of People’s 50 Most Beautiful People in the World. Twenty-eight years later, he penned My Seven Sons and How We Raised Each Other (They Only Drive Me Crazy 30% of the Time).
So, if you hazarded a guess that perhaps the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Don Diamont – who has played “Dollar” Bill Spencer on BB since May 12, 2009 – then you were absolutely correct!
