Who Can Save Liam from Thomas on The Bold and the Beautiful?

The Hope mannequin suggested to Thomas that he permanently eradicate Liam from Hope’s life on The Bold and the Beautiful at the end of last week. Viewers know that it’s Thomas’s mental state that’s causing the doll to say this to him, but he’s having trouble staying in control.

Fortunately, Liam (Scott Clifton) has a potential protector in all this — it’s Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) himself! After all, Thomas at one point dismantled the mannequin in an attempt to gain the upper hand.

“Thomas has been fighting this since day one,” Atkinson tells Soap Hub. “He’s trying to figure it out and be a good person. He wants all of these inclinations to go away. He doesn’t want to have these feelings for a woman [Hope, Annika Noelle] who doesn’t have feelings back for him.”

Thomas manages to take a step towards getting his emotions and thoughts from getting away from him, but then he slips back. “He has moments where he takes control, but, so far, he hasn’t been able to do it [permanently],” Matthew Atkinson notes.

“Thomas is this very tortured soul,” the actor adds. “He’s trying to hold hit together, and he wants to be a lot of things that he knows he’s not right now. He wants to be an incredible father to his son, Douglas [Henry Joseph Samiri]. He wants to make his father [Ridge, Thorsten Kaye] and grandfather [Eric, John McCook] proud. Right now, he’s not doing any of those things. He’s screwing up and he knows something is wrong and he shouldn’t feel this way.”

Viewers saw Thomas hit his head at Forrester a while back after he picked up his cell phone off the floor and stood back up. Is there a physical component to his mental state? Or did he simply just drop his phone and tap his head?

“We’re just going to have to wait and see,” Atkinson teases. “Maybe it’s important. Maybe it’s not. It could have been put in there just to throw people off.” The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
