When Ridge Met Brooke on The Bold and the Beautiful

The Bold and the Beautiful’s enduring couple is, of course, Ridge and Brooke. The two have been a part of each other’s lives since the show’s early days. Recently, the couple reminisced about their first encounter.

The Bold and the Beautiful – Back to the Beginning

While talking about Hope (Annika Noelle) and Liam’s (Scott Clifton) relationship, the subject of destiny arose. Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) couldn’t help but note that “destiny” is a word applicable to himself and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), who said that she loved Ridge ever since she first set eyes on him.

“Remember that day?” Ridge recalled. “I was looking across the room and there you were and I thought mmmm! I was put on earth to love that woman. That’s it!”

Thanks to YouTube, viewers can see that fateful meeting. The connection was made not in a room actually, but out by the Forrester family pool. Brooke’s mother Beth (Nancy Burnett) and her catering business were throwing a party for Stephanie (Susan Flannery) and Eric (John McCook) at their mansion. Unbeknownst to Stephanie, Eric and Beth (AKA Liz Henderson) had been college sweethearts.

During the party, Ridge (then, Ronn Moss) spied whom he thought was his fiancée, Caroline (Joanna Johnson), from across the pool area. He excused himself, walked over to Brooke, and said, “Been waiting for you, darling.” Brooke turned around and inquired, “Were you talking to me?” A surprised Ridge replied: “I thought…I thought you were someone else.”

“Sorry,” Brooke responded. “Me, too,” Ridge said, clearly taken by the woman whose name he had yet to learn. And the rest, as they say, is history. Ridge and Caroline’s engagement was called off after she learned he was unfaithful and he began dating Brooke. They were set to wed, but Ridge ended up breaking things off.

After Brooke wed Eric, it appeared as if she and Ridge would never get together. Caroline, who became Ridge’s wife, died, leaving Ridge a widower. He and Brooke made love even though she was still wed to Eric. Ridge wed Taylor and made a family with her, but he was always drawn back to Brooke.

The two were wed a few years ago. Over the last year, the pair survived her smooch with Bill (Don Diamont), a phony divorce, and Ridge being seduced into a fake marriage by Shauna (Denise Richards).
