Vinny’s The Bold and the Beautiful Suicide Story Is Filled With Holes

It’s been the most riveting plot on daytime: Liam Spencer and Bill Spencer arrested for Vinny’s murder and a cover-up on The Bold and the Beautiful. However, as things have twisted and turned, and a hit-and-run has been transformed into a calculated suicide, the story has been filled with big holes.

The Bold and the Beautiful: Murder? Not So Fast

As Liam (Scott Clifton) and Bill (Don Diamont) rot in prison, viewers have learned the unstable Vinny (Joe LoCicero) actually plotted his own demise via a video message he sent to his pal Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson). In the name of friendship, Vinny opted to commit suicide and frame Liam for his murder, so Thomas could finally unite with Liam’s wife, Hope (Annika Noelle).

Holey Moley

Far fetched, but feasible in the soap world. Still, there are huge holes in the story. Vinny told Thomas he’d been “tracking” Liam. How? Did he put an app on Liam’s phone? When would he have had the opportunity? The tracking device obviously wasn’t on Liam’s car, since he wasn’t driving his own vehicle the night of the “accident.”

B&B Commentary: Off Track

Does that mean viewers should assume that Vinny put a tracking device on Bill’s car and, if so, why? Let’s say that was the case. Wouldn’t Bill have been behind the wheel of his posh sports car? How could Vinny assume, let alone know, Liam would be driving it that fateful night?

Seeing Clearly

Meanwhile, Vinny was standing on the side of the road waiting for the opportunity to jump in front of Bill’s car. It was the dead of night. Pitch black. How could he have been absolutely sure it was the right car? If Liam and Bill couldn’t see Vinny, how did Vinny see them?

The Bold and the Beautiful: No Help Hotline

All that aside, there was no PSA at the end of the episode where all the shocking elements were revealed. Shouldn’t a cast member involved in the storyline, like Atkinson and/or LoCicero, been on hand to deliver a message from SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education), explaining that there is help out there? Shouldn’t a suicide hotline number have appeared on the screen? That may have been the most egregious error of all. The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS.
