He may have been the late Stephanie Forrester’s favorite child on The Bold and the Beautiful, but Ridge didn’t always get a free pass. Even Steph’s firstborn felt the sting of his mom’s open-faced palm!
In the show’s first year, Stephanie (Susan Flannery) had more to worry about Beth (Nancy Burnett) stealing Eric (John McCook) away from her. The subject of Ridge’s conception came up and he pieced together the timing of it all. Ridge realized that his mother was already pregnant when she and his father wed.
Stephanie felt that the matter was private and didn’t want to make Ridge (then Ronn Moss) self-conscious over how he came into the world.
“You were conceived in love, is that what you want to know?” Stephanie said to Ridge, hoping to deflect his line of questioning.
Ridge told his mother she gave his father no choice and she had pulled the “oldest trick in the book.”

Highly offended at this, Stephanie slapped Ridge across the face!
“Nobody ‘gets’ themselves pregnant,” Stephanie said to her son when he said she had manipulated his father.
Stephanie was aghast that Ridge theorized she had trapped his father by using sex.
Years later, another secret related to Ridge’s paternity was exposed – he wasn’t Eric’s son at all, but rather the offspring of Massimo Marone.
