Betty White is celebrating a milestone today. The beloved television and film star, whose credits include The Bold and the Beautiful, turns 96!
The multiple Emmy-award winning star is best known for her winning roles on The Mary Tyler Moore Show as man-hungry Sue Ann and on The Golden Girls as loveable but dim-witted Rose.
White also has achievements in daytime TV, too! B&B fans recall her run in 2006 as Ann Douglas, Stephanie’s neglectful mother, who looked the other way when her husband took a strap to Stephanie (Susan Flannery) when she was a helpless child.
NBC tapped into White’s popularity during the Golden Girls era and ran the “Where’s Betty?” contest. Soap fans were invited to count the number of times White appeared on the network’s soap lineup which at the time consisted of Days Of Our Lives, Another World, and Santa Barbara.
White has two Daytime Emmys on her mantel. One was for Outstanding Game Show Host in 1983 for the short-lived Just Men! (White was the first woman to win in this category.) She received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2015 Daytime Emmys.
White also appeared as a celebrity player on the daytime game show Password, which was hosted by her late husband Allen Ludden.
A tireless advocate for pets, White has been honored many times for her philanthropic work with animals. In 1995, White was formally inducted into the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame.
The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
