The Bold and the Beautiful’s Lesley-Anne Down Stars in a Ronald Reagan Biopic

For years, Lesley-Anne Down brought to life the dynamic and beautiful Jackie Marone on The Bold and the Beautiful. Now, she’s taking on the part of another powerful persona in a film about the life story of United States President Ronald Reagan.

Political Role For Lesley-Anne Down

Down will play British politician Margaret Thatcher in Reagan, a film that tells the tale of Ronald Reagan, who started out as an actor and went on to become the 40th President of the United States of America. Reagan served as President from 1981 to 1989.

In Reagan, director Sean McNamara (Chesapeake Shores) recounts Reagan’s life from childhood to his time in the oval office. Dennis Quaid (Great Balls of Fire; Far From Heaven) plays the title role as an adult. A young Reagan will be portrayed by David Henrie (How I Met Your Mother).

The cast also includes Penelope Ann Miller (Awakenings) as Reagan’s second wife, Nancy Davis Reagan. Mena Suvari plays Jane Wyman (Falcon Crest), Reagan’s first wife. Kevin Dillon (Entourage) plays movie mogul Jack Warner.

As Reagan likely didn’t meet Thatcher until he landed in Washington D.C., it stands to reason that Down’s Thatcher will air later in the film (if the story is told sequentially). Robert Davi (who played the short-term role of Fish on General Hospital in the late 1970s) plays Leonid Brezhnev, the former General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

Thatcher’s been brought to life on screen by such actresses as Meryl Streep, who won an Oscar for her role in The Iron Lady, Lindsay Duncan in Margaret, and, most recently, Gillian Anderson in The Crown.

Down’s Jackie made the BB scene in 2003. Viewers learned she was Nick Marone’s (Jack Wagner) mother. Jackie had romances with Massimo (Joe Mascolo), Eric (John McCook), Deacon (Sean Kanan), and Owen (Brandon Beemer). During a fight with Stephanie (Susan Flannery), Jackie went bungee-jumping off the Forrester mansion staircase railing — sans bungee!

Jackie left town with little to no explanation. It was later revealed she and Owen were living in New York and later, that Jackie was traveling the world, hinting at the possibility that she and Owen had split.
