The Bold and the Beautiful Wayback: Remember Grant

Throughout soap opera history, there have been many tragic love stories over the years. Among them is the one between designer Grant Chambers (Charles Grant) and his bride Macy Alexander Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Making His Mark
Taylor and Ridge were split when her former beau, Grant, came to Los Angeles to take a job at Forrester Creations. The new designer (briefly) encountered Forrester family outcast, Sheila Carter. He also ran into fellow designer Clarke Garrison, promptly decking him for his mistreatment of Grant’s sister, Kelly.

When Taylor proved unavailable, Grant moved onto a romance with Michael Lai. He got a consolation prize from Taylor – her beach house – and asked Michael to move in with him. She accepted his offer to be roommates, hoping it’d become something more.

Boogie Board Buddies
Ridge and Grant struck up a friendship and went surfing together. Unknown to Ridge, Grant developed a crush on Brooke. Ridge spied the two sharing an innocent kiss, but it was enough to prompt Ridge to dump his plan to propose to Brooke and, instead, he popped the question to Taylor.

To retaliate, Brooke proposed to Grant at the end of a presentation for the company’s new men’s line. But Brooke didn’t really love him. She was hoping to make Ridge jealous, but she went ahead and wed Grant on a ship. Ridge called out to Brooke in the fog, but it was too late.

My Stepson, My Enemy
Grant discovered his marriage to Brooke wasn’t valid because the captain who performed the ceremony was a big phony. Things got worse when Grant was shot while working in his office. He survived, and Ridge took the fall. The real shooter turned out to be Brooke’s son, Rick, who’d been watching too many video games.

Macy’s Special
Brooke learned her union with Grant wasn’t legal and she wouldn’t make it legit because she was in love with Ridge. A furious Grant moved over to Spectra Fashions as payback.

There, he fell in love with Macy, who was split from Thorne. Later, Macy and Grant became the new owners of Insomnia, a local coffee house. Macy sang there, drawing in crowds. Grant proposed and he and Macy were wed at Insomnia with her family in attendance.

Love Story
Grant and Macy wanted to start a family, but nothing was happening. Macy got a clean bill of health from her doctor, but Grant wasn’t as lucky. He learned not only was he sterile, but he was also diagnosed with testicular cancer. First, Grant confided in Darla about his condition.

Then, Grant broke the news to a devastated Macy. His condition deteriorated quickly. Grant came down with pneumonia and was hospitalized. Macy sang for Grant as he transitioned to that great soap in the sky. The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
