The Bold and the Beautiful lays claim to one of soaps’ most obsessive mother/son dynamics with the late Stephanie and her son Ridge. This week, BB stars took to social media to celebrate National Sons Day!
The Bold and the Beautiful Real-Life Sons
“#happynationalsonday to the coolest kid I know,” posted Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter) with a photo of his son, Christian. “Daddy LOVES You❤️❤️❤️ #nationalsonday.”
Co-star Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy) also posted a photo of her son, Rise, who was wearing quite the stylish robe. “#happynationalsonday!!!” the actress posted.”Thank you @punkyandme for the cutest robe ever!!!”
“Your such an amazing son and the most caring big brother!” Jacob Young (ex-Rick) wrote about his son, Luke. “Words cannot express how much you mean to me. I loved you before I ever met you, and I will never stop loving you, and I’ll still hug you when your friends are around! #nationalsonsday #LukeYoung.”
Winsor Harmon (ex-Thorne), father to son, Dewey (Winsor Harmon IV) wrote: “#happynationalsonsday to the greatest #son any #father could ever #wish for. I #loved you before I ever met you. 🙏❤️ @harmon_nation.”
While soaps are traditionally a female-driven drama, sons have always played a key role in the storylines. Stephanie was devastated upon learning that Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Eric (John McCook) were naming their son Eric Jr.
On The Bold and the Beautiful in the 1980s, Sally (Darlene Conley) told Clarke (Dan McVicar) he’d gone too far when he refused to acknowledge their son, Clarke Jr. (Mick Cain). Taylor (Hunter Tylo) found it difficult to bond with her son, Jack, due in no small part to a mix-up at the fertility clinic that resulted in her carrying Brooke’s baby!
Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) has shown resentment towards Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) because he felt his father neglected him and his sisters, favoring the Logans instead. Eric and Ridge could have been torn apart by the revelation that Massimo Marone (the late Joe Mascolo) had fathered Ridge, but the two haven’t let the lack of biology affect their dynamic.
The character of Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) was fleshed out when he gained not just one, but two long-lost sons — Liam (Scott Clifton) and Wyatt (Darin Brooks). While he didn’t raise them he has another chance to be a more hands-on dad in the formative years of his son, Will (Finnegan George), whom he fathered with Katie (Heather Tom). The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
