On The Bold and the Beautiful, Wayne Brady arguably dug his own grave once little Thomas Forrester spilled the beans that baby Phoebe was really baby Beth. Now, the talented performer is getting to become a different kind of ‘gravedigger’ on a primetime series!
According to TVLine, the Whose Line Is It Anyway performer has been cast in the recurring role of Tyson ‘Gravedigger’ Sykes on The CW’s Black Lightning, based on the DC Comics super-hero comic book hero.
Gravedigger has a familiar-sounding origin. He underwent an experiment that granted him super strength, agility, and other skills during World War II. After the war ended, rather than come back to the United States, Gravedigger relocated to the country of Markovia. His goal is to create a place for superhumans within his new country. Watch for him to clash with series lead character Black Lightning (Cress Williams).
This move is another display of Brady’s versatility. While a lot of famous faces do cameos on soaps, the Let’s Make A Deal host created the role of Dr. Reese Buckingham who played a pivotal role in BB’s front-burner story.
He seized an opportunity to make some fast money selling Hope’s (Annika Noelle) baby to Taylor (Hunter Tylo) so she could give the infant to Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), who wanted a sibling for her daughter Kelly.
The dynamic set up a huge payoff. When the truth came out about the switch, BB took the top spot in the ratings in the coveted Women 18-49 demographic. The story is still playing out now and will for some time to come!
Watch for Brady to make his debut as Gravedigger in early 2020. Black Lightning airs on The CW on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
