The Bold and the Beautiful Star Tanner Novlan Dissects Finn’s State of Mind

Finn has found out the hard way just what it means to be in a relationship with Steffy on The Bold and the Beautiful. The good doctor’s new love has informed him that she’s pregnant, but that her ex, Liam, could be the baby daddy as they spent an unplanned evening of passion together!

Either Finn or Liam could be the dad. The results of Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) upcoming paternity test will change everything! “There’s a lot happening at BB right now,” Tanner Novlan (Finn) tells Soap Hub. “Holy smokes!”

Up until he found out that Liam had had sex with Steffy, Finn was fairly understanding of Liam’s presence in his ex’s life, especially as they share daughter Kelly together. “Here’s the thing,” Novlan explains. “Being a doctor, Finn is obviously very patient. He’s pretty black and white and analytical. He usually has a clear head about what’s going on.”

Whether Steffy realizes it or not, however, Finn says, she’s in a pattern with Liam — one that may not be terribly healthy. “Finn sees a woman who’s stuck in a cycle,” the actor offers. “He can’t help her break that cycle. She has to do that on her own. All he can do is help give her the tools.”

Of course, Finn, too, is only human. Viewers noticed that that extra large print of Steffy and Liam in happier days on her wall was getting on Finn’s nerves. “That photo is a representation of [Steffy not letting go of Liam],” Novlan says. “She’s still in the ‘Liam cycle.'”

The paternity tests will change the landscape. However, they may not change Finn’s feelings for Steffy. “Finn loves her so much,” Novlan says. “He believes in her. ‘Abusive’ may be too strong a word, but Liam has played these two women [Steffy and Hope]  back and forth for a time now. There’s an injustice that drives Finn up the wall.”

The good news is that the good doctor is going to give Steffy a chance to work out her issues. “He’s going to be patient with her and has to let her work her way through this,” Novlan says. “He definitely sees how sorry she is [over her night with Liam].”

No matter who the dad is, there’s definitely a baby on the way — and Finn wants the newborn to be his. “Finn loves Steffy very much and he’s really praying this goes his way,” Novlan adds. “He hopes in his heart that the baby is his. There’s a lot riding on this test!”
