Reign Edwards, formerly Nicole on The Bold and the Beautiful, has booked a new film. She’ll be hitting the big screen with actor Charlie Gillespie in the movie Love You Anyway.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, there’s another BB connection to Love You Anyway, too. Justin Baldoni’s (ex-Graham) Wayfarer Studios is making the project, which will be directed by first time director Anna Matz. The film tells the story of Mackenzie (played by Edwards), a young girl, battling depression who experiences the highs and lows of life alongside best pal Lucas (played by Gillespie).
The film is set to address mental health issues, showing how they can be dealt with through love and support. Much of the film will be shot using an iPhone to capture raw performances.
“With this story, my main concern was always remaining authentic to the experiences of young people growing up, falling in love, and learning to live with the challenges they face,” Matz said. “In Mackenzie’s journey specifically, I wanted to create a means of understanding mental health in a way not often seen on the screen. I hope that this story can show mentally healthy people the complexity of depression, as well as showing those with depression that there is a future for them in this world.”
Next month, Edwards can be seen in the Amazon drama series The Wilds. Other credits, in addition to her Daytime Emmy-nominated run as Nicole, include the film Hellfest and a recurring role on MacGyver.
Edwards’ former TV husband Rome Flynn (ex-Zende; ex-Gabriel, How to Get Away With Murder) tweeted: “Congrats Reignnnn.” She replied: “Thank youuu!” Flynn exited BB in 2017. Edwards followed a few months later, leaving the CBS soap in early 2018.
The characters were living abroad, working at Forrester International. Alas, viewers recently learned the marriage ended when Zende (now Delon de Metz) returned to Los Angeles no longer wearing his wedding ring. He confirmed that he and Nicole weren’t together anymore, but further details have yet to be revealed. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
