Julius Avant and his stance on certain issues have made him a polarizing figure on The Bold and the Beautiful. But his portrayer, Daytime Emmy winner, Obba Babatunde is getting nothing but love these days from his daytime acting pals as he returns to primetime TV this week.

Rome Flynn, who played Julius’s son-in-law Zende before going on to become Gabriel Maddox on How To Get Away With Murder, recently tweeted out a big compliment to Babatundé. The Daytime Emmy winner tweeted: “This is your favorite actor’s favorite actor. Films like Life, How High, The Notebook, John Q, Silence of the Lambs, The Temptations. the list goes on. He deserves his flowers rn.”

“Thank you Rome I am humbled by your kind and thoughtful words,” Babatundé replied. “I Celebrate you in your art and success as well.”

Julius urged his daughter Nicole (Reign Edwards) to take her birth daughter Lizzie away from Rick (Jacob Young) and Maya (Karla Mosley), which likely led to some strained relations, but Young is wild about Babatunde.

“You’re the best!” Young posted on Twitter. “Obba, your moment to moment and digging for the truth is seconded to none. The humanity you devour in every scene! I love you, brother!”

On Wednesday, November 11, Babatunde reprises his role as Daniel Harrison, Sr. on S.W.A.T. in a two-hour Season 4 premiere. His character, of course, is the father of series lead Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, Jr., played by Shemar Moore (ex-Malcolm, The Young and the Restless). Part of the story is set in the past and we’ll see how both Moore and Babatunde’s characters experience and process the Los Angeles riots that erupted after the verdict in the Rodney King trial was read in 1992.

The first episode on Wednesday is titled 3 Seventeen-Year-Olds; the second one is titled Stakeout, and deals with Hondo encountering his ex-girlfriend Nichelle (Rochelle Aytes) for the first time since their breakup. S.W.A.T. returns for Season 4 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
