As longtime fans of The Bold and the Beautiful recall, the show’s central dynamic for its first few decades was the enmity between Stephanie and Brooke. The Forrester matriarch would diminish Brooke by calling her a ‘slut from the valley,’ referring to both where Brooke hailed from and what Steph thought of her morals.
Katherine Kelly Lang: Forever Brooke
Many social media fans are familiar with Matt Hanvey, BB’s superfan, who posts both thoughtful insights and hilarious memes — all born out of his passion for all things BB.
Recently, Lang (Brooke) took to Instagram and shared a snap of herself and Hanvey, with him wearing a homemade t-shirt that he made in honor of Stephanie’s (Susan Flannery) classic line.
“Matt has such a great sense of humor and fashion sense,” Lang wrote. “He made this sweatshirt in honor of Brooke Logan! I want one! You are awesome Matt!! If some of you don’t know what ‘slut from the valley’ is… it is what my tv mother in law would call me on ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’…”
Where’d the shirt come from? “I actually made it myself with fabric paint and stencils,” Hanvey tells Soap Hub. “It was surprisingly easy. Kelly loved it! She was showing it off to people and said she wants me to make her one.”
Lang, an original cast member, made her debut in the premiere episode of BB. Soon, she met the Forresters via her mother Beth’s (Nancy Burnett) catering business. Stephanie didn’t take to Brooke, seeing her as an opportunist.
She was gleeful after Ridge (then-Ronn Moss) dumped her. However, that led to Brooke’s romance with Eric (John McCook) and the birth of Brooke’s two children with him — Rick (Jacob Young) and Bridget (Ashley Jones).
Eventually, Steph came to accept Brooke as Ridge’s wife. When Brooke heard Stephanie’s voice speak to her at her last wedding to Ridge, the late matriarch still called her a ‘slut from the valley,’ but this time it was said lovingly. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
