The Bold and the Beautiful Star John McCook Reveals A Unique Fan Encounter

The Bold and the Beautiful is celebrating 34 years on television today. Original cast member John McCook, who plays patriarch Eric Forrester, is one of the most recognized people in the world, given his prominence as the show’s long-running patriarch.

John McCook — A Fun Encounter

Recently, the actor shared a “fan” encounter that took place in his own neighborhood for another “role” he’s known for playing. It came to light when McCook, along with cast members Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy), Don Diamont (Bill), Scott Clifton (Liam), Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter), and Annika Noelle (Hope), appeared on The Locher Room, a YouTube talk show featuring soap stars past and present, hosted by Alan Locher, to celebrate the show’s anniversary.

During the chat, McCook recounted an instance back when his daughter Becky, now grown, was still in school. “I was waiting in line at a grocery store,” the actor shared. “And a woman in front of me turned around and said, ‘Oh! I know you! I know who you are.’ I said, ‘Well, yes, I’m an actor. I’m on The Bold and the Beautiful.’ She said, ‘No. You’re Becky’s dad.'”

“We’ve all had one of those,” chimed in Clifton.

In addition to appearing on The Locher Room, BB also hosted a drive-thru fan event on the TV City lot where the show has taped since its inception.

McCook and Lang are the two remaining original cast members from the show’s premiere. When BB began, they were involved in separate storylines. Eric had recognized malaise had crept into his near-30 year marriage to Stephanie (Susan Flannery). Meanwhile, Brooke had fallen for Eric’s son Ridge. By the end of the show’s third year, Ridge had dumped Brooke.

That set the stage for Eric, who was ready to split from Stephanie, and Brooke to unite. They fell in love. She became pregnant with his son, Eric Jr. AKA Rick. Not surprisingly, Stephanie moved heaven and earth to keep Eric from marrying Brooke, but eventually, she acquiesced and gave Eric his freedom.

Brooke and Eric’s marriage produced two children — Rick and Bridget — but it didn’t last long. Years later, the two wed again, briefly, after Ridge, prompted by Stephanie, had dumped Brooke and Eric was (again) over his then-wife’s machinations.

Today, Brooke is happily wed to Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), and Eric has reconciled with his wife Quinn (Rena Sofer). BB is executive produced and head written by Bradley Bell.
