He plays one of the longest-running characters on soaps, which is always worth celebrating! And, now, John McCook of The Bold And The Beautiful has something else to celebrate!
McCook was born on June 20 so this week he made some birthday wishes and even got a call from Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke) and some friends during a BB fan event.
Born in Ventura, California, McCook made the soap scene in 1976 as wealthy Lance Prentiss, who romanced Lorie Brooks (Jaime Lyn Bauer). He left Genoa City in 1980 and embarked on a successful prime time career.
The actor appeared on such series as Dynasty, Three’s Company, L.A. Law, Family Ties, and Murder, She Wrote.
In 1986, McCook met with BB creator/executive producer/head writer William J. Bell about taking on the role of the Forrester patriarch. Bell, alas had one gripe with McCook — he thought he’d look older!
Nominated three times for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series for his role as Eric, McCook’s played some of BB’s most memorable stories over the years including his malaise-stricken marriage with Stephanie, whom he divorced and remarried, and romances and trips to the altar with Brooke, Sheila, Lauren, and Quinn!
Offspring, McCook and his wife Laurette Spang McCook (Cassiopeia, Battlestar Galactica) have three children: Jake, Becky, and Molly McCook. (Molly appears as Mandy on the Fox sitcom Last Man Standing). McCook has a son, Seth, from a previous marriage to the late Juliet Prowse.
Soap Hub joins McCook’s family, friends and fans in wishing the actor a happy birthday and many happy returns and you can too with the tweet link below.
