As if dating wasn’t hard enough without employing social-distancing! But perhaps love will find a way in a new comedy series created by The Bold and the Beautiful star Joanna Johnson.
Viewers saw Johnson earlier this week at Bill (Don Diamont) and Katie’s (Heather Tom) 2009 wedding, which was rebroadcast in BB’s regular timeslot. As Bill’s sister, Karen, Johnson said a few words in support of the bride and groom. Veteran BB viewers recall Johnson as Caroline, arguably Ridge’s (Thorsten Kaye) true love, who died in 1990.
Now, Johnson’s a TV executive producer (The Fosters) and creator (Good Trouble) and doing another series for Freeform. According to Deadline, Johnson, along with Anonymous Content, will produce a four-part comedy set in modern COVID-19 times.
The series is titled Love in the Time of Corona and it tracks multiple characters and stories who are self-quarantining at home. Some characters wonder if entering a short-term physical relationship with a roommate could ever be casual. Another character laments sheltering with a former love.
Love in the Time of Corona will be shot utilizing appropriate technologies in order to ensure safety. The locales will be the actual homes of talent. No air date has been announced yet for the innovative series.
Johnson was an original cast member of BB. She left the show in 1990 when Caroline went to that great soap in the sky.
In 1991, viewers learned that Caroline had a twin, Karen, who had been kidnapped after birth. She was living in Texas, working in a diner as a woman named Faith. Blake (Peter Brown) brought her to Los Angeles hoping to drive a wedge between his ex-wife Taylor (Hunter Tylo) and her new boyfriend Ridge.
Blake’s plan failed, but Faith, who went back to her birth name, stayed in Los Angeles for a few years before leaving town. Years later, it was revealed that Karen was in a same-sex relationship with Danielle (Crystal Chappell) and that Karen had had a daughter, Caroline (Linsey Godfrey), named after her late sister. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
