He may be gone from The Bold and the Beautiful as Rick, but Jacob Young is staying plenty busy acting. The Daytime Emmy-winner recently announced his involvement in a new project, a film titled Will of the West.
Jacob Young: The Old West
“Hey friends,” Young posted on Instagram, “I’m excited for my friend who is a fantastic director and festival winner Coleman Anderton. I’m excited to be apart of this powerful short film to be shot in Idaho. Check out the Kickstarter.”
“Thank you so much Jacob!” posted Anderton. “So excited to work with you!”
On the film’s Kickstarter page, Will of the West is described as being about a “family on their way to freedom [that] must fight the will of the old west, in this John Ford-inspired western tale.”
As veteran BB fans recall, Young made his debut as Rick on the half-hour soap in late 1997 as Ridge (now Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) were about to marry. Thrust onto the front burner, Young’s Rick was seduced by babysitter Amber (Adrienne Frantz), who became pregnant! Sadly, Rick and Amber’s baby died shortly after birth.
As the story continued to play out, Young left BB to pursue other opportunities. One of them was taking the role of Lucky on General Hospital for which he won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Leading Actor in a Drama Series.
After his GH stint wrapped, the actor moved 3,000 miles away to New York City where he took on the part of JR Chandler on All My Children. Young was there when the show left the ABC airwaves in 2010.
After that, he returned to where it all began — as Rick on BB. In April 2018, Young switched to recurring status with the show. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
