Fans of Don Diamont, who plays Bill on The Bold and the Beautiful, know that he didn’t start his CBS soap career on BB. He started out on The Young and the Restless in the mid-80s so, he’s celebrating his 35th anniversary on the eye network!
Don Diamont: A Soap Icon In the Making
Diamont’s TV son, Scott Clifton (Liam) on BB, paid tribute to his on-screen dad on social media in honor of the occasion. “Today is @don_diamont’s 35th anniversary on @CBSDaytime,” Clifton tweeted. “That’s literally my AGE, guys. So when I was [expletive] all over myself, Don was mowing the Abbotts’ lawn in a pair of daisy dukes. To the one and only—whose good looks (unlike his fashion sense) have never changed!”
As YR and veteran Diamont fans recall, Brad began as the Abbotts’ gardener, catching the eye of Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) whom he wed twice. Brad turned in his gardener’s rake for an attache case as an executive at Jabot. In one of daytime’s most memorable stories, Brad’s deranged ex-wife, Lisa (Lynne Harbaugh) had him kidnapped and kept in a cage for months!
Later, Brad inherited great wealth from the late Cassandra. From then on, Brad interacted with other Genoa City power players Jack (Peter Bergman) and Victor (Eric Braeden) on a different level. Brad (whose real name was George Kaplan, courtesy of a complicated backstory) died a heroic death saving Noah Newman (then, Kevin Schmidt) from drowning in an icy lake.
Paving the Way Into Soap History
In 2009, BB quickly scooped up the actor to bring to life morally-challenged Bill Spencer, Jr. heir to Spencer Publications. During his BB run, he has bedded many of the show’s women and tested the forgiving nature of many, especially his sons, Liam and Wyatt (Darin Brooks).
Soap Hub congratulates Diamont on 35 years of being one of CBS’s brightest stars! The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
