Everybody’s got an opinion…especially where their favorite daytime drama is concerned – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of The Bold and the Beautiful’s week that was.
So, much to the surprise of no one, except the perpetually blindsided quadrangle made up of Steffy/Liam/Hope/Finn, Liam (Scott Clifton) was revealed to be the father of Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) gestating little one. But is he REALLY?
Call us crazy. Call us paranoid if you must. But let’s face an undeniable fact: Vinny Walker (Joe LoCicero) is acting all kinds of shady. He’s suddenly got access to grade-A pharmaceuticals – lest anyone forget that he helped exacerbate Steffy’s opioid addiction; he’s suddenly sporting what looks suspiciously like a white laboratory coat; and during conversations with good buddy Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) he’s spouting lines like, “You know there’s nothing that I wouldn’t do for you, right buddy?”
Might Vinny have actually been employed at a certain hospital where a certain paternity test was being run on a certain Forrester heiresses baby? The mind is beginning to boggle.
And the mind is also recalling a certain tale from yesteryear that featured a doctored paternity test that once finally outed – after the passage of many years – resulted in a child having to rectify the fact that the man she’d called Grandpa was in fact her daddy!
And speaking of Bridget (Ashley Jones), can someone just admit that her one and done visit served no other purpose than to prop the rapidly disintegrating Lope coupling?
Sure, Hope (Annika Noelle) talked a big game about forgetting the hurt and anger resulting from Liam and Steffy’s one-night stand and re-committing herself to her man and to her family. But that was before she learned her husband impregnated his ex…for the second time.
Finn (Tanner Novlan), who received copious amounts of praise in last week’s column, likewise regretted his promises to stand by Steffy no matter the test’s outcome…but unlike Hope, who truly seems to be done with Liam’s hollow apologies, Finn seems far more reticent about actually ending his relationship with Steffy. Perhaps they will actually find a way to rise above it all.
* An angry Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) is an entertaining Carter. It’s refreshing to see this side of the character who, let’s face it, has been an afterthought for so much of his tenure, and even during what was, ostensibly, his first real storyline in years. But truth be told, it was actually the Zende (Delon de Metz) and Zoe (Kiara Barnes) show, featuring Paris (Diamond White), with Carter only serving as the mooning special guest star. Now, he’s getting a much-deserved chance to shine – and we sincerely thank the writers for that!
* Bill (Don Diamont) says that he loves Katie (Heather Tom), and that he misses her, and that he needs her back in his life. But what exactly has changed from then to now? How has Bill grown as a person and what steps has he taken to prove his worth to Katie who seems absolutely content in the life she’s leading now? Actions speak louder than words.
