The Bold and the Beautiful Sacrificing Justin in Vinny’s Murder Twist

Vinny’s murder storyline has taken a riveting twist on The Bold and the Beautiful. But, in the process, it’s sacrificed the character of Justin.

The Bold and the Beautiful: E Tu, Brute?

Suddenly, Bill’s right-hand man and longtime best friend, has made an outrageous move to grab control of Spencer Publications – betraying Bill (Don Diamont) and knocking out and imprisoning Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) to keep him from alerting the authorities about how Vinny (Joe LoCicero) really died.

With Bill and Liam (Scott Clifton) locked up for the crime, Justin (Aaron D. Spears) believes he’ll finally be in the position to rise to the company’s helm; a post he feels he’s earned after years of devoted service to the publishing conglomerate and Bill.

Justin Who?

The problem is this isn’t who Justin is at the core. Yes, he may feel slighted that he hasn’t moved to the top of the company. He may even resent that Bill’s sons have surpassed him in the chain of command. However, Justin, better than anyone, knows Bill’s allegiance to his family. And, as a father and businessman himself, it’s likely Justin totally understands the mogul’s tactic.

Business aside, there’s also Justin and Bill’s strong, decades-long friendship. Justin has been loyal to Bill through thick and thin. He’s been there for him in good times and bad; listened to his problems, offered him advice, and even called him out when he’s felt Bill’s deserved it. It’s impossible to believe that Justin would ever turn on Bill; and not just turn on him, but allow Bill and Liam to rot in prison for a trap they fell into.

Questions, Questions

The move is questionable on all counts. A few months after annihilating another great male friendship on the show, Thomas and Vinny’s, why would the show destroy Justin and Bill’s? Then there’s the fact that Justin has always played such a key role at Spencer Publications. His regular face-offs with Bill have always been energized and engrossing. The prospect of that disappearing is a downer.

Perhaps The Bold and the Beautiful writers have already scripted a story turn that will get Justin out of this self-imposed disaster. His conscience could weigh on him and compel him to do the right thing. He could set Thomas free and, together, they could go to the authorities and spill all about how Vinny really died.

Forgive and Forget

Once Bill and Liam are free, Justin would have to ‘fess up to Bill about his momentary lapse in judgment. He’d owe his best friend that much. After some initial anger and disappointment, it’s totally feasible that Bill would forgive his pal. Why? Because it’s exactly the kind of calculated move Bill would have considered himself, all in the name of business. The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS.
