The Bold and the Beautiful had an amazing, record-shattering year and it was all thanks to the show’s storylines. Characters went through twists and turns that kept viewers turning in. Which one did you like the best?
The Bold and the Beautiful: Baby Came Back
Almost 38% of you voted for the story that seemed to occupy most of the year on BB in one way or another. That tale, of course, is the Baby Beth/Phoebe storyline. It kicked off in January after Hope (Annika Noelle) gave birth on Catalina Island.
Dr. Reese Buckingham (Wayne Brady) stole the baby and sold her to Taylor (Hunter Tylo) so that her daughter, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), could give her daughter Kelly a sibling.
The story climaxed when Thomas’s son, Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri), blabbed that baby Beth was really alive and Liam (Scott Clifton) and Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) fought on the roof of Forrester Creations.
Flo’s Favor
Katie’s (Heather Tom) transplant came in second with almost 24% of your vote. Fans would watch the five-time Emmy-winning Tom read the phone book.
Fortunately, viewers got to see her act out much more compelling scenes as Katie grappled with her own mortality and found herself having conflicting feelings to new niece Flo (Katrina Bowden), who kept the news of Hope’s baby being alive, but then offered up to her aunt a life-saving kidney.
Hear Her Roar
Almost 19% of The Bold and the Beautiful fans voted for Steffy striking out as an independent woman. She decided to live her life as a single mom and didn’t depend on either Bill (Don Diamont) or Liam (or anyone else for that matter) to live a fulfilled life. Steffy has never kept Liam from seeing his daughter, but she set out to prove in 2019 that she could fly solo and still be content.
Thomas The Train
Thomas was (and continues to be) unstoppable as a locomotive when it came to his obsession with Hope. That’s why almost 14% of you voted Thomas’s obsessiveness as your favorite story. Just when viewers think Thomas has gone too far, the writers give Atkinson a scene to play in which he can more fully express the character’s humanity.
“Bridge” Over Troubled Waters
Almost 3% of you voted Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) troubled marriage as your top storyline. It might have ranked higher if it’d started earlier in the year — or if folks liked the idea of the couple breaking up! But, as soap fans know, characters break up to make up.
Viewers will see in 2020 if the couple remains apart or starts finding their way back to one another. (The remaining voters — less than 3% — voted on various story beats including Hope getting her baby back.) The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
