Sure, The Bold and the Beautiful is a relatively stable show in terms of its cast, but the half-hour sudser added some new actors and characters to the canvas in 2019. They helped fuel the show’s stories, earning a place in your heart along the way.
Which new character did BB fans vote as their choice for Best New Character? Read on for the results!
Not surprisingly, Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri) came in first with 70% of your votes. Soap fans have seen child actors come to daytime and achieve varying degrees of success. Some don’t seem to be having any fun. Others are too precocious for words.
Samiri, however, brings professionalism, believability, and heart to his role as Douglas. Technically, the character isn’t “new” as he was born a few years earlier, but Samiri is the first to play Douglas in a speaking role.
It could have been written off as stunt casting, but the addition of Denise Richards as Shauna Fulton came in next with almost 14% of your vote.
Shauna has not only fleshed out the character of Flo (Katrina Bowden), giving her a sounding board but more importantly, Shauna is proving to be the biggest threat to Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) marriage that viewers have seen in a while! Go, Shauna!
Flo came in next with over 11% of The Bold and the Beautiful fans’ vote. Katrina Bowden plays the part of Reese’s (Wayne Brady) unwitting ally in the kidnapping of baby Beth with sincerity. BB showed it was invested in Flo by making her a Logan, daughter of the late Storm (William deVry), and paved the road to her redemption by having her donate a kidney to her Aunt Katie (Heather Tom).
He’s sometimes clueless and often shirtless. We’re talking about Vinny (Joe LoCicero), the amicable roommate of Thomas and 5% chose him. He’s the perfect “talk to” for Thomas because Vinny isn’t always sure what the bad boy is up to.
Here’s hoping we see more of Vinny in 2020 so we can get to know more about him. Which new characters will BB add next year? Stay tuned to find out! The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
