CBS has created synergy with its daytime programs many times. Both Sheryl Underwood and Akbar Gbajabiamila of The Talk have appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful, respectively as Emmy and Max. When the talk show’s Gbajabiamila and Amanda Kloots chatted with Soap Hub on the Daytime Emmys red carpet, we asked them to play armchair casting directors for upcoming potential gigs.
Amanda Kloots Ready for (B&B) Close Up
Not only have Underwood and Akbar Gbajabiamila been on B&B, but The Talk‘s Natalie Morales has popped up on The Young and the Restless as Talia Morgan. That leaves Jerry O’Connell and Kloots from The Talk, who haven’t done a CBS soap yet. Which show does Gbajabiamila think Kloots should do?
“Bold and the Beautiful,” he suggests. “She’s bold — and she’s beautiful!” Plus, Gbajabiamila would like to see Kloots sink her teeth into a meaty role. “We want to see a different side to you,” he says.
Kloots reveals that a B&B producer, ironically, mentioned a collaboration when they saw each other prior to our interview at the awards. “This just happened,” she says. “[A producer] said, ‘When are you coming onto the show?’ I said that I would love that! Let’s do it!”
Dancing With The Talk
Kloots hasn’t done a soap opera yet, but she is the only host from the show who’s competed on Dancing With the Stars. She was paired with Alan Bersten in Season 30 of the reality/dance competition series. Who does she think from The Talk should next do DWTS? “This guy, for sure,” she responds, gesturing towards Gbajabiamila. “I’ve been trying to convince him since I did it. Football players do really well on that show. I told [Akbar] you don’t know how much you’d love the process!”
Which female pro would Kloots recommend for Gbajabiamila? “The girls are all so good,” Kloots says. “I’m going to say, Emma Slater. She’s a little taller.” That sounds great to Gbajabiamila. “I’m a guy who’s 6 feet 6 inches!”
